My name is Simon Schmalhorst. I am a 25-year-old graphic designer based in Berlin, Germany. Since 2014 I study communication design at Hochschule Darmstadt. Besides my focus on developing graphic design products such as books, posters and websites, I also have a strong interest in conceptual art and photography. In 2018 I did a 5-month internship at the studio of Daniel Wiesmann in Berlin. Later that year I studied at the Art Academy of Latvia in Riga for one semester.

Feel free to me for any further information or work requests.

This is a book with the parable “Heimkehr” by Franz Kafka on its outside. The inside is empty. The text is burned into the book using laser-technique and it circles in a helix-shape around it. In this story Kafka talks about him being scared to enter his parent’s house. The design builds a bridge between the storyline and the book as a three-dimensional medium. This project was realized together with Felix Hofmann-Wissner.(13×9×2cm)
